Lamont v. Lieberman
I got home by 7:15 to see parts of the Lieberman/Lamont debate. It was on CSPAN, and y'all know that i'm a big enough nerd to tune in. Admittedly, i am not sufficiently wonkish to have remembered what channel CSPAN is specifically, but it's bad enough that i remembered it being in the high seventies.
Right, so how was the debate?
Lieberman was really testy. I don't know what internal numbers he has seen, but he is obviously scared that he is going to lose the primary. He cut Lamont off several times and mislead the public with several answers. He played as somewhat of a bully. For his part, Lamont was generally well mannered and came off as picked-on when Lieberman chimed in during Lamont's time. Lamont didn't rebuke Lieberman when Joe improperly chimed in during ned's time. I can't quite figure out whether Lieberman picked up ground based on his scathing attacks on Lamont or lost ground due to being an asshole and Lamont's solid counterattacks.
Lamont's main points of attack were:
- Lieberman is wrong on the war
- Liebs is too cozy with Bush
- Liebs undermines democrats in congress
- Lamont is a novice
- 'monty voted with repubs in Greenwich
- Monty will not be able to bring home the bacon to CT
Hard to know who won. I doubt a lot of people were convinced to change their minds. We'll see what happens.

Lamont voted with Republicans about stop signs and potholes. Lieberman voted with Republicans about a war that is costing thousands of lives and trillions of dollars. There's a big difference.
amen brother!
i agree with your refutation of lieberman's greenwhich related attack on lamont. in fact, lamont had a very similar response.
