Endorsement Roundup #2

I forgot two major endorsements last time I posted and there has been a new one since then. Here we go:
  • The Nation: Christopher Hayes does an excellent job at looking at real differences among HRC and BHO's advisers and how their candidacies will impact the electorate and electoral outcomes. He thinks that BHO will be better for building the Party and for winning contested offices nation-wide.
  • Maria Shriver: This has been dominating the early week news cycle in CA. She is the state's first lady and a Kennedy. For some reason the media seems to care a lot about the endorsements of Kennedys who aren't Teddy or Patrick. I wonder if her being married to Arnold will help with swing voters.
  • Eli: Though it's garnering less national news than it should I found the reasoning cogent and what it lacks in impact it makes up for in astuteness. After talking about HRC going negative/divisive he adds this:
As for the merely political, I think Obama is expanding the party base in ways Clinton simply can't. People who vote Democratic in one election are more likely to vote Democratic again. That matters. Obama is also a more effective campaigner and can help Democratic candidates in swing states. And the difference between 55 Democratic votes in the Senate and 51 Democratic votes is larger than any policy difference between Clinton and Obama. I also fear that the Clintons will unify the Republican base and hurt Democratic prospects. We have got to keep Congress blue.
  • And of course there is Hulk Hogan's Obama endorsement, brother. This naturally brings up the questions, "has Yokozuna weighed in? How about The Undertaker".
Lastly, I asked an elderly family member about her preference. She said, I already voted in my primary. I chose that President's wife lady. I guess that's a nod for HRC.

don't forget about Garrison Keilor. I'm sure the votes from lake wobegon, where all voters are above average, will weigh in for Obama!

Talking about wide support, (now anti-war) Andrew Sullivan has been openly supporting Obama for the past year and urging his readers to do likewise.

Sadly, Yokozuna has left us and won't be making any endorsements.
